RIP Big Bull: Shankar Sharma says he's overcome by emotion

Market veteran Shankar Sharma said he is overcome by emotion on reading about Rakesh Jhunjhunwala's demise over a WhatsApp message. Having known Jhunjhunwala for 25-26 years, the news of his death is "beyond words, beyond sadness, beyond everything," he told ET NOW.

Sharma said Rakesh and he have fought publicly because of having different views, but yet they were good friends. In a difficult profession, one can disagree on views and yet be great friends, he said.

"That is the real mark of friendship and of your maturity as a human being that the views are all subjective and are very personal but your friendships, relationships should go much beyond that," he told ET NOW. "That is what I personally enjoyed with Rakesh."

Sharma, in an interview to ET NOW, said the last time he met Jhunjhunwala was at a wedding party that took place just prior to Covid.

"With Rakesh, a drink cannot be too far away. So we sat and we drank and there were a few other friends also…," he recalled.

That day, Jhunjhunwala was telling Sharma that the latter was blocking his view because Shankar's home was coming up just behind his.

"We (stay) exactly opposite to each other behind Walkeshwar Road and he was telling me that you are blocking my view. I was telling him because of your construction, my home is getting completely covered with dust, and we really had a good laugh on that. It is just too painful to even recall those moments. So, yes, I am really overwhelmed," Sharma
